Panang

Four days on Panang Island to tan up and unwind from the festive madness of N.Z. Visits to the local Batik factory, butterfly farm, fruit farm and Panang Hill diluted with lots of sunbathing and swimming.

We did a tour of the local Batik factory to see how the materials are patterned. We also had the pleasure of taking a ride up Panang Hill in the cable drawn rail car which has been running since 1922. The top of the hill is 830m above sea level and takes half an hour in the rail car. It broke down that afternoon and we had to walk down the hill. I still remember the heat and blisters...
